How to Make Paper Foldings?

Often, while working on craft projects, you will have to fold paper. Folding paper by hand without the use of a folding implement can create uneven folds that are jagged. Using a bone folder and a ruler will make your folds look more professional by ensuring that they are even and that the crease is smooth and perfect.

Bone folders often be made out of bone. Bone folders can be purchased at your local craft store.

Instructions

Things You'll Need

  • Ruler
  • Bone folder
    • 1

Place a ruler over the paper where you want to fold it. If you are attempting to make a measured fold in the paper such as a half fold or a quarter fold, measure the paper and lightly mark where the ruler should be placed to ensure that the paper is evenly folded.

    • 2

Hold the ruler in place with one hand and slide the tip of a bone folder along the side of the ruler with the other. As you slide the bone folder, press it into the paper to score it.

    • 3

Remove the ruler and the bone folder from the paper and fold it along the score.

    • 4

Run the flat surface of the bone folder over the folded paper to secure the fold.
